On a
personal note:
What Do You Want
Anyway?
Do you know what you
want out of life?
I mean really?
Specifically?
I don't mean stuff like:
"I want to be rich."
or even:
"I want to be a millionaire."
or
"I want an income of $250,000 a
year."
Those are only the tools to give you
what you really want!
Like your mechanic uses a screw
driver and a set of instruments to tune
your car.
His goal is not to "turn the
screwdriver."
It's not to, "Make the gauge read in
the right zone."
It's not even, "To make your car run
properly."
His real goal is, "To make you happy,
satisfied and a fan."
If you want to be wealthy, wealth is
not your goal.
Ask yourself:
"Why do I want to be wealthy?"
And when you answer yourself - BE
HONEST!
Ok, maybe you do want to be able to
help the poor, put your kids through
university, spread the word, and
make the world a better place.
But be honest: "Why do you really
want to be wealthy?"
I'll bet the real answer, the honest
answer is that you want
to experience the emotional feelings
that will result from
helping the poor, putting your kids
through university,
spreading the word and making the world
a better place!
What you really, really, really, want
- is all about you!
And that's O.K.!
You don't need to be ashamed of it!
You need to admit it.
Not to me.
Not to your spouse.
Not to your kids.
Not to your friends.
To yourself!
And you need to understand it!
You need to understand that at the
very top of Abraham
Maslow's Pyramid of Hierarchical values
is Self Actualization.
The whole idea of "service first,
self second" is a crock!
The idea of putting service first is
because it makes you feel good - and
anyway you slice it that's putting you
first!
There is no other way!
My role in life is to help you
understand that, to act on that, to
understand what you need to do to become
the best you can be, and to get you to
do it.
Not for you.
Not even for money!
Because I want and enjoy the way it
make me feel to make a contribution. To
be respected as someone who can and does
help others. To be known as the driving
force behind other people, the catalyst
that gets them going.
It feeds my ego!
My goal is to be known, recognized
and respected for what I do.
Sure it makes me money which provides
a great life style.
When you get right down to the
ground, it's all about me!
Only when your life is all about you
will you be able to provide for and make
a meaningful contribution to those you
love!
If you really want to get your life
on track, to learn about
recognizing and capitalizing on the
opportunities all around you, you might
